Metro Cafe & Wine Bar: What’s in a name? A lot actually, for Metro Café & Wine Bar: The worldly menu from dim sum to andouille sausage pizza is trés metropolitan; the open, airy design screams café; and the taps offering 100 wines by the glass make it, undeniably, a wine bar. Booths at the far end fill with couples and groups, as the red hues hide wine-blushed cheeks, while a mezzanine section glows in yellow. There’s a spacious feel as the glass front lets in light by day and wine aromas dance freely by night. Screens at the bar nearly blend into the design, much like the “choking victim” sign seems more like framed art on one of the walls, which are painted solid clay and olive colors. Your best bet as a first-timer is one of the 21 wine flights—you’ll get to taste four varieties, starting at $14. |
