McGee's: Remember that trip to Cork, where you sat in a dimly lit pub downing the native Murphy’s stout and laughing with the locals? If you haven’t done that, you can come close to experiencing Emerald Isle geniality by popping in for drink at McGee’s. Three levels of convivial Irish pub atmosphere, each with a long polished bar, and some authentic lilting brogues make McGee’s a lively post-work locale. The after-five suits and neighborhood locals in the know gather on the first two floors with their pints of Murphy’s (or any of the other 20 beers on tap and 13 by the bottle) to catch the latest sports on the big-screen and plasma TVs, or pack the few banquettes and wooden tables while enjoying Top 40 tunes. A dining room hosts a more sedate family-style crowd on the third floor and serves typical Irish-American fare, with a side of “chips.” The staff is friendly, the beer is flowing, and the crowd is loving it. |
