Maya: The bar at Maya Restaurant overflows in the summer, when its French doors open for mingling patrons with margaritas in hand. Maya’s chic setting and “New Mexican” cuisine reflect its contemporary feel, but despite the steep prices on its “platos”—think $25 entrées—the bar’s “Hora Feliz” drink specials are excelente. Take a load off after work at one of the bar’s beautiful glass-covered tables inlaid with polished stones while you enjoy a $5 lime or mango Margarita Maya (made with Torada tequila), imported beers for $4, or select wines for $5. If one of Maya’s specialty cocktails strikes your fancy—like the kumquat- and ginger-flavored China Poblano, or the make-your-own Margarita Al Gusto—be prepared to pay double-digit prices. |
