Matto: Although it’s located away from Main Street’s crowded bustle, with Nick and Toni’s nearby, there’s no lack of people-watching at this wonderful Italian spot. Sip a $14 cocktail, or enjoy, arguably, the East End’s best sangria ($9 for glass, $30 for pitcher) while you try stand-out dishes such as the prosciutto and figs ($18), the pasta Bolognese ($23), or the walnut-crusted salmon ($24). Reservations are strongly recommended—the most coveted seating is on the outdoor patio where the lively atmosphere is filled with a mixed crowd of attractive young things and older folks pretending to relax. There’s also a bar, but it’s mostly taken over by diners who couldn’t score a table. |
