Maracas:
CLOSED.
Situated on a block of upscale nightspots catering to locals, Maracas does little to buck convention. Its clientele consists of neighborhood professionals in search of fun (but nothing too crazy) and the décor only suggests exoticism, with tiny skeletons and alluring string lights adorning the brightly colored room. You can bank on some good drink specials, though—every Monday, all super-strong margaritas (mango, prickly pear) are $1, as is sangria on Sundays. Live flamenco guitar is another offering every Thursday and Saturday at 8pm. The food runs the Mexican gamut (quesadillas, taquitos), but it’ll cost you a heap of pesos. Still, for $1 margaritas we can do the Mexican Hat Dance all the way to Midtown. |
