Mantra 986: Mod, intricate décor, ashy veneer, Erin Cosby photography, and porthole mirrors are precisely arranged to create the annoyingly trendy Mantra 986. Surrounded by sports bars and Irish pubs, Mantra 986 makes a bold departure from former inhabitant Bar Room, a post-frat, young professional, B&T frequented spot. On weekends, DJs borrowed from 27th Street hotspots draw a “hipper” crowd. Midweek second-level diners get a view of Midtown via open air patio (weather permitting) and full-length glass doors. The menu offers reasonably priced small plates (Tuna Tartare, $8) and average priced cocktails. The beautifully tasty cocktails – like the Red Apple Martini – are well worth the $11 pricetag and drunken banker entertainment. |
