Malachy's
This tried-and-true Irish dive is the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow for many. Old-timers take up resi-dence along the bar, but there are a few tables in the back and along the wall for groups to throw back a few and peek at “SportsCenter” on any one of the eight hanging TVs. Malachy’s gets pretty crowded after work cuts out, which can be a good thing or not, depending on how blue your collar is. There’s nothing spectacular about this haunt, but the “Three Stooges” posters above the bar remind us to never take anything too seriously when drinking.

Best Irish Dive in NYC

Malachy's is a must go. Laidback friendly atmosphere, good mix of people, and great bar food. Cheesesteaks, wings, and chicken sandwiches are superb and more than reasonably priced. Beer and drink prices are always low for NYC. Bartenders are on the ball. Great place to start your night but hard to leave... Classic!

Tried and True - from a 30-something regular

As you walk in you see old-timers sitting next to 20 and 30 somethings... all regulars. Why would such an occurrence happen? The atmosphere and the staff. The bar is a very comfortable place to sit and talk about your day, cool off from the summer heat, or just knock back a couple before a movie. 1st time or 51st time, the bartenders will take the time to say hello and make you feel welcome. If you are there for a while, they will cheerfully get you a buy-back. Simply the best UWS neighborhood bar to start or end your night. Also try "Mother Malachy's" Irish coffees on the weekends before 7:pm... absolutely amazing!!!

grimy but good

This place hasn't changed in years. It may be kind of dark and dirty, but they serve good food and have cheap beer specials all the time.
