Maggie's Place: Like everything else on the East Side, Maggie’s Place is an upscale version of what you seem to find elsewhere. That can be a good thing, especially when it means mahogany paneling, stenciled glass door vents, and dropped-beam ceilings. By the way, it doesn’t hurt to nibble on a few nuggets of marinated tandoori chicken while you’re deciding which of their 30-plus bottled beer selections strikes your fancy. Maggie must be doing something right, because she’s been going strong for over 30 years now. Unlike her Irish cousins though, she closes early to catch up on her beauty sleep—usually by midnight. She’s also closed all day on Sunday. God would approve. |
