Maggie Brown: When someone says "southern comfort" the first thing that comes to mind is when that hearty-eatin' Tennessean weaseled into your pants. No, that wasn't comfortable...particularly the next morning. It's a good thing this southern comfort isn't that southern comfort...although munchin' here may expand you quite a bit. Sip your spiked frozen lemonade and nibble on starters of deviled eggs and biscuits and gravy outside in the garden if you’re in need of open air. Of course there's fried chicken to be had, and all the usual southern suspects like mac ‘n’ cheese and fried fish. But Maggie Brown is aware they really aren’t in Kansas anymore, and they serve up other options too. Veggie lasagna is baked with corn tortillas and a Portobello burger is topped with goat cheese and roasted peppers. And southern or not, anyone who isn’t into a dessert of Peanut Butter Pie with Graham Cracker Crust is just plain crazy. Not like that Tennessean crazy, but crazy. |
