Lupa: Do you speak Italian? Fluently? If the answer is no, you’ll sure wish you did at Lupa. This fabulous Greenwich Village eatery features a menu so ethnically correct that you may require a translator—or a patient waiter. But don’t despair—Mark Ladner and Mario Batali’s Roman osteria speaks the international language of “yum.” Work up an appetite perusing the 350 varieties of aged grapes, then tackle some authentically old-world culinary delights like lamb sausage or whole roasted fish. The mid-priced menu is divided into courses, so just in case verdura, carne, insalate, pesce, prima, secundi, and Piatto Del Giorni are Greek to you, remember that the cheaper things at the top of the menu are essentially appetizers, and if you order one of each, you’ll need a stomach pump when the entrée arrives. |
