Luke’s Bar and Grill: Luke’s Bar and Grill’s crisp green and yellow awning belies its rather beat-up, 16-year-old insides. But there are far worse places for a beer on the Upper East Side, and summer sidewalk seating is actually pretty pleasant. Like neighboring Hunter’s, Luke’s lacks happy hour specials yet draws family regulars and retired folks with a varied menu and a wider wine selection than most pubs in the neighborhood. Sports-watchers occasionally congregate for weekend viewing on three TVs, but the only young ones Luke’s tends to attract are diaper-wearing stroller types. There are plenty of singles bars in this area, but Luke’s is not one of them. |
