Lotus: Like Britney Spears, Lotus went from hotness to hot mess, oozing its stank attitude into the Cheesepacking District. So it’s no surprise that after eight years, the former Leo DiCaprio hangout (and now D-list drunk tank) will throw its last party Sunday night. The tri-level danceteria still packed in crowds night after night, thanks in part to parties hosted by Michael T. and Amanda Lepore, but will go down in history as the club that took NYC nightlife from an underground scene to the land of pretentious table reservations and Wall-Street-sized expense accounts. Owner David Rabin is partnering with Tenjune’s Eugene Remm and Mark Birnbaum to reinvent the space into a street-level restaurant and basement club. See you there—not. |
