That’s Lolita’s catch, especially during happy hour, when drinks are $3 from 6-8pm. Tattered garage sale sofas are sprinkled about a sparse room where the art adorning the walls just might be part of their monthly art shows on given nights. A pink neon sign shines between curtains on a big picture window, yet this off-the-beaten-path gem is somehow easy to miss. The upstairs bar is your typical LES rock-alt joint, while the downstairs lounge is a little more intimate. Non-locals might find the staff rude, but that’s their way of saying, “You’re ruining our neighborhood—leave us alone.” If you’re a local who shows up for enough of Sunday’s all-day happy hour, you’ll feel like family soon enough. |
