Lower East Siders who lived here in 2001 and left for a while will be happy to find this place is still around…more or less. Management has changed, a back room has been added, and the vibe up front is considerably more weekend-warrior frat boy than it was before. Fortunately, a cool, shabby-chic crowd still chills in the loungey back room where one might find writers from “The Onion” or music producers from various indie labels. Arrive early and grab one of the two wooden booths by the front window—the one near the bar has a reach-through window that keeps the cold ones coming. On weekdays, this is a gem. Come Friday, bathroom lines are long, thoroughfares are blocked, and Strong Island’s in da house.
