Lobby Lounge @ Jumeirah Essex House: These people bill themselves as New York’s "crown jewel of art deco" and while we suspect the Chrysler Building folks may take issue with that claim, the famous office complex certainly can’t match the glitzy interior at this super posh bôite. The plush sofas and ritzy architectural details kind of remind you that lounges are intended for lounging, and are so comfy you may not want to leave. Of course, that’s where the hefty check comes to the rescue. Nevertheless, this is a very impressive spot to swing by with a date after a stroll through Central Park. But please, skip the horse carriage ride, it’s just too “been there done that.” Do go for the house specialty, however, the Essex, made with Absolut Kurant, ginger ale, and lemon juice.
