Lexington Bar & Books: Its irritating door policy notwithstanding, Lexington Bar and Books—brother to Hudson Bar and Books—isn’t as stiff and stodgy as its shining outer address plate would suggest. Yes, it’s a no-sneakers, no-sandals, and no-shorts zone where jackets are “preferred” and well-tucked collared dress shirts are a must. But sometimes the polished boys are the worst cads—don’t be surprised, ladies, when some of these debonair devils try putting the moves on you and your Chanel-wearing female companions. Gentlemen will find the “civilized” atmosphere sublime for cigar-smoking, and ladies receive a complimentary stogie on Monday nights. If you aren’t in the market for tobacco, expect to pay a $2 cover charge. |
