Les Halles: Among the many French brasseries that populate the city, Les Halles has a certain “je ne sais quoi.” (That’s a good thing.) The long wine list reads like a French novel, and the swanky wood-trimmed interior and classic steak frites menu makes this perpetually crowded (and understaffed) bar/restaurant a near-perfect watering hole for the local MBA set. It’s not cheap, but judging from the crowd, Les Halles is geared toward “les rich” who are willing to stand around the limited-seating bar tipsy on “le vin.” But be warned—if you’re not a briefcase-toting keyboard jockey, you might feel out of place among the almost entirely professional clientele. Don’t worry about kitchen cleanliness—this is the home base of Chef-at-Large Anthony Bourdain, who penned Kitchen Confidential. |
