Le Souk
Next time you're waiting in line to get into some Meatpacking District hot-spot, ask yourself this: when was the last time any of those places gave you a belly dancing lesson?  No, for that sort of thing, you'll have to head east (geographically and figuratively) to the recently re-opened Le Souk. Based on an Middle Eastern open-air market, the club has five distinct areas—dining room, patio, open-air garden, tent, and lounge—and Le Souk drips with seduction and debauchery in each one. The belly dancing lessons take place every night but Sunday, and gorgeous women are shaking their hips as their dates are toking on the hookah. Talk about setting the mood. Prepare your senses to be on overdrive with robust North African/Moroccan cuisine complemented by illuminated lanterns, exquisite tiles, and a saturation of color. It doesn’t get much sexier than this—just remember that beautiful things come with a price tag and LOTS of attitude. At least at Le Souk, they also come with Belly Dancing 101.

While the food is delicious and the ambiance is very alluring (and the 5 different areas all offer something unique and enjoyable), the prices can be a little hard to digest, and, worst of all, the waitstaff will cop a major attitude an hour into your dinner if you did not reserve a hookah in advance. In said scenario, you will be rushed to finish your dinner, will probably not be offered dessert, and will be asked to get the hell out or move to the bar ASAP. This is not the place to linger, at least not on a Fri/Sat night. I've been here a few times because the food and ambiance really are worth the rudeness, but be prepared for disappointment mid-meal. Maybe week nights are a better time to go.

I invited all my friends to Le souk for my birthday and it was a great time. the place is huge and it has different rooms w/ different music. and the fact that you can smoke hookah while drinking and dancing, even better! they did give me a bit of shiz at the door due to the girl to guy ratio but they still let them in.

Definitely recommend it.

This place is great. It was seriously over crowded on a Saturday night, and the wait online was long, but I thought it was totally worth it. Great music, and hookah, and drinks...what could be better? The decor is really cool as well, a little overpriced but hey its an awesome spot. I definitely want to go back during the week and try the food.

What do you get when you combine Authentic North African Cuisine with Middle Eastern Ambiance? The answer is Le Souk! While your tastebuds are being tantalized by cuisines such as Lamb and Chicken Tegine, the rest of your senses are taken over by the sights and sounds surrounding you. When you're done with dinner, make your way to the dance floor, where you can sit back and enjoy the aromas of the assorted flavors of hookah and enjoy a dance lesson by one of Le Souk's bellydancers who are there every night after 9 except for Sundays. Guaranteed you will be back for more!

This place is the best in Manhattan. I would not suggest going there Friday or Saturday because it is too packed. But every other night my slogan for Le Souk is "Guaranteed good time." I have been there on Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays, Wends....Sat's and every time has been Great!!!!!! Enjoy!!!!

This place has a little bit of everything. Dancing, hookas, lounge area, food. It can get a bit too crowded and overwhelming, but there are some cool places right across the street when you need a change of scene. Overall, a good place to spend your night out.

The description of this place is as right on as can be. The people at the door may be the worst in the city! It's one thing to be a crowded and popular place so you can't let people in quickly, but it is another thing to be mean, put people down who are standing on line (as the door people did to everyone on the line numerous times), and then when you ask them to relax they get in your face as if they are going to punch you. Luckily with a lot of cops near by the door guys could only act like thugs.
