Le Souk: Next time you're waiting in line to get into some Meatpacking District hot-spot, ask yourself this: when was the last time any of those places gave you a belly dancing lesson? No, for that sort of thing, you'll have to head east (geographically and figuratively) to the recently re-opened Le Souk. Based on an Middle Eastern open-air market, the club has five distinct areas—dining room, patio, open-air garden, tent, and lounge—and Le Souk drips with seduction and debauchery in each one. The belly dancing lessons take place every night but Sunday, and gorgeous women are shaking their hips as their dates are toking on the hookah. Talk about setting the mood. Prepare your senses to be on overdrive with robust North African/Moroccan cuisine complemented by illuminated lanterns, exquisite tiles, and a saturation of color. It doesn’t get much sexier than this—just remember that beautiful things come with a price tag and LOTS of attitude. At least at Le Souk, they also come with Belly Dancing 101.
