Laugh Factory:
An L.A. institution since 1979, the Laugh Factory finally has a space on the East Coast, and it’s a former strip joint next to Port Authority. Rest assured, the poles are gone, the floors have been sanitized, and the whole place has been completely de-sexed with large photos of Phyllis Diller and Rodney Dangerfield. With two bars located inside and four stages, you’ll feel like you’ve landed in some sort of comedy cruise ship, decorated in ’70s red and black with wall-to-wall mirrors. The club books national talents like Paul Rodriguez, big-named locals like Marc Maron and Dave Chappelle, and up-and-comers. Cover will set you back $20 to $25, with a two-drink minimum.
