Larry Lawrence: Ah, space. Isn’t that the reason why we came out to Brooklyn in the first place? Larry Lawrence gets a lot of attention for its unmarked entrance, which actually reads, simply, “Bar.” But after traversing a long, somewhat eerie hallway you enter vast space: high ceilings, candle lighting, and wooden furnishings. The ceiling is so high you can climb onto a glass-walled smoking deck over the top third, back portion of the room. With under-lit bottles behind the bar stacked up to the ceiling, Larry Lawrence is actually quite grandiose for these parts. Still, the bartenders are friendly to neighbors and visitors alike. The smoke deck closes more often for noise than inclement weather, but you can keep your cigs dry in the rain by snagging the coveted dry standing space under the air conditioning duct. You’re welcome. |
