La Playa: If you make it past the palm tree-lined fence, you’re in for a playful time at La Playa, the largest nightclub in Southampton. Formerly Tavern/Stereo, this 10,000-square-foot dance hall from the Pink Elephant team gives the moneyed crowd plenty of room to bump and grind amidst flowing curtains, an oversized disco ball, and colored lights. The main dancing area is bordered by two elevated VIP spaces on either side, so unless you have a bracelet, there’s no smooth-talking your way in. Expect daddy’s little princesses, buttoned-down “playas,” and Euros sipping champagne and crowding the bar. If you need some air, head out to the large smoking area where tobacco and ocean breezes waft through the cabanas and trees. To avoid long waits and valet chaos, come early and park in the nearby boat shop’s lot. |
