La Caverna: Believe it or not, there are other bars on Rivington Street that are not named The Magician, and La Caverna does more than enough to make you forget you ever wasted a second of your time in that blogger utopia. Upon entering La Caverna you immediately descend a flight of stairs, and before you know it you’re transported into a drinking establishment that almost looks like a cheesy chain restaurant with its cavernous décor. Once you turn your innate New York cynicism off, however, you’ll realize that the place actually ain’t that bad. The lighting and furniture are seductive and sexy, making it a desirable date location. The beers are reasonably priced, the bartenders are extremely friendly, and there’s something oddly satisfying about watching a plasma-screen TV embedded in stalactites. La Caverna is definitely one of the more unique bars on the Lower East Side, and in this neighborhood, that’s saying something. |
