Like its LA hotspot sibling, Koi is an elegant contemporary Japanese eatery where you can impress your friends with your sake knowledge (they offer 35 varieties) or simply enjoy the tasty fusion fare. If you’re thinking of cozying up to the bar or on one of the few lounging benches, well, you’ll have to wrestle your way through the chic diners waiting for one of the “trendiest tables in town.” The atmosphere strives to be serene with green vertical lines of tall bamboo that grace the walls as well as the orange and yellow resin chandeliers and tiny tea lights, but the constant loud chatter of the crowd detracts from the Zen-like ambiance. Should you manage to squeeze your way to the mini-sized bar area, it’s of the usual fully stocked, premium liquor, cocktail-heavy variety.
