Knife & Fork: You’d think someplace simply called Knife & Fork would be bare-bones about the food they serve. But the slipper-sized East Village space—with seating for just 40—serves an inventive menu in a charming space. Duck breast is rubbed with lavender, flowers are edible, and saffron-poached pineapple is served with foie gras. French doors open up onto Fourth Street, while hanging lanterns, beaded lampshades, and Moroccan-style fluffy pillows decorate the room. A thick wooden bar serves a mile-high wine list, and rightfully so, the silverware is designer. We know what you’re thinking: That fork would make a great add to your mismatched (and pilfered) collection. |
