It’s not hard to imagine being on a lord’s estate, eating game shot by the man of the house. You want chicken? Sorry, the kitchen is all out—quail and duck are your closest options. Hankering for a hamburger, or hungering for a pork chop? No luck, sir—filet mignon or lamb loin will have to do. And there’s no hard liquor in the manor, so you can’t get a cocktail, but feel free to wash your $50 meal down with a glass of wine or a beer instead.
