Keats Restaurant: Perhaps the area surrounding Grand Central Terminal isn’t the ideal spot for nightlife, but it’s hard to resist the understated charm of Keats Restaurant. Combining all the best parts of a pub, a dive, and a neighborhood bar without quite falling into any of those categories, Keats attracts a diverse crowd: middle-aged socialites, younger after-work dates, and commuters are drawn to the inexpensive drinks (Bass and Guinness on tap for under $5!) and average bar food at below-average prices. Featuring lots of exposed brick and old wood, low ceilings, and a friendly staff, it’s hard not to feel comfortable in this Midtown cove. Look out, though: Friday and Saturday nights are reserved for karaoke… but with enough cheap beer, you probably won’t mind. |
