Katen Sushi Bar (@ the Marriott Marquis): The eighth floor of the towering, modern Marriott Marquis is home to a whole smorgasbord of bars and restaurants. Of these, Katen’s swank wood-toned sushi lounge is the place to go to meet up with fellow out-of-towners for some raw delights and a saketini. Ah, fresh meat and fresh fish. The setting is far from traditional, especially when the Asian eatery is wedged in next to the bulb-lit Broadway Lounge, but hey, it’s New York—anything goes and this small sushi bar whets many a hotel guest’s voracious appetite. So take a seat on a striped stool, try to ignore those Midwestern accents, and listen to the jazzy music from the piano player across the floor. |
