Kate Kearney’s:
CLOSED.
Even though it’s in Midtown, Kate Kearney’s turns out a fun, laidback mix. The after-work crowd prefers the bar, where Dublin-born bartenders serve up eight beers from the tap. If you can’t snag a barstool from one of the regulars, try your Irish luck at a table in the spacious backroom, and if you still have an appetite after listening to an endless playlist of Phish and O.A.R., order drinks and bar munchies from the prompt cocktail waitresses. Retired frat boys and grad-school yuppies dominate the rear backroom sports bar scene, complete with a pool table, dartboard, and eight televisions tuned to ESPN. Tuesdays and Saturdays turn especially Midwestern, when Beirut is played. For those who don’t know, it’s basically beer pong, but don’t let any of these folks hear you saying that. |
