Karavas Tavern

Karavas Tavern is unintentionally famous for its 30-minutes-or-less quickies that do little to satisfy its clientele. Connected to a Greek coffeeshop, this generic but popular late-night stop attracts a middle-aged set and co-eds wandering in after a night out. The aesthetic is sore on the eyes, as dangling white lights centered on a Heineken emblem, Egyptian art, and gold-encrusted objects look like they belong in a Cairo college dorm. Sad-eyed bartenders pour drinks from the full bar, including an average wine selection and frozen cocktails that don’t go over $7. Don’t expect much action or really anything vaguely interesting until 3am, when patrons arrive in a last-ditch effort to score a beer and a greasy pita before calling it a night.
