Karaoke One 7:
An otherwise polished lounge, Karaoke One7 doesn’t attract many customers for its beautifully tiled wall and palms in the front bar area. Naturally the Flatiron/Chelsea/Union Square-bordering venue seduces crooners and normally closeted divas. In karaoke tradition, drinks—including sake bombs—are on the cheap, as is the meager Japanese food selection, though costs can add up and the disposable income bracketers aren’t strangers here. Right from the front room you can serenade patrons entering, those parked at the bar, and passersby when the door swings open, but the back hallway leads to hidden singing treasure. Private rooms let you embarrass yourself in a more intimate environment, with a group of your closest three, four, five, or eight buddies. Karaoke One7 boasts that their 80,000-strong multi-lingual, multi-genre song selection is the city’s largest, and the top 10 tracks listed on their website suggest the staff appreciates your exploration of the staggering selection. Translation: Please don’t sing “Pour Some Sugar on Me” again. Check out other locations (under the name “Sing Sing Karaoke”) at 9 St. Marks Pl., 2nd Fl. and 81 Ave. A.
