JoeDoe: After being forced to plead for a liquor license because neighbors worried about noise, this American restaurant opens from chef Joe Dobias and partner Jill Schulster. Dinner plates include buffalo brisket in marrow-bone butter ($13), beef and toungue with American kimchee ($29), and veal chop with pea gnocchi ($29). A brunch menu will follow in a couple of weeks, and by then we predict the 30-seat restaurant will have won over its neighbors for being the complete opposite of an East Village frat bar. |
