Jake's Dilemma: Jake’s is old-timey when you walk in, but it works. Everyone from yuppies to construction workers to college types hang here, playing some foosball or beer pong, watching a game, and BS-ing after work. When a mere pint won’t do, beer is sold by the pitcher and/or the yard (that’s three feet for you frat boys out there). Jake’s has nightly specials such as Monday’s $7 pitchers and Thursday’s Pitcher of Shots, as well as a half-price happy hour from 1pm-7pm on weekends. Whether it’s crowded or not, the “Living Room” in the back has that “making out in your girlfriend’s father’s study” feel to it, for when the opportunity presents itself. Like its Upper West Side sister, The Gin Mill, a private room is available downstairs. |
