Irving Plaza: Irving Plaza has earned its high rank among the city’s most rockin’ downtown music venues. It’s also one of the only rock clubs left that still hosts all-ages shows, so on nights when bands like CKY play, the line usually wraps around the corner and far down the block. Big-name acts such as Coldplay, Old 97s, System of a Down, and Better Than Ezra have played here—and some nights the crowd is so into it that the balcony shakes. It’s impossible not to hear the band no matter where you are in the venue—at one of the two full-service bars, lounging by coat-check on a torn-up velvet couch, or scoping out the people down on the main floor from the top-floor balcony. |
