House of Brews:
A place called House of Brews should be way more fun than this one actually is. There is no doubt they have a great beer selection: 33 bottles from around the world, including Chernomor Extra from the Ukraine, and 23 American craft brews. And that’s not including the seasonal selections. But no one seems to be overly excited by the cocktail cornucopia that lies before them. Tourists come in to nip on a taste of home, and it’s not unusual to find a limo waiting out front for a Bridge and Tunnel bachelor party taking advantage of the bar’s tabletop beer bong. Ugh. Both locations are pretty much the same, with wood booths, TVs tuned to sports, and barrels with built-in taps on display. But the 51st Street spot is bi-level, so you can escape to another floor when the bong-produced chants of “Go! Go! Go!” become too much
