CLOSED. How this wart survives on the princely Meatpacking District’s smarmy face we’ll never know, but the world-class mac and cheese offers some clues. Sure, this two-section roadhouse attracts its share of post-frat salesman types who consider themselves “regular folks,” but that’s the neighborhood—not “The Pit.” Be ready to eat if you’re going to sit in the dining room portion where disinterested servers aren’t being rude as some sort of gimmick—this is the real deal. On that note, the somewhat pricey and always sloppy BBQ is the real McCoy as well. The second room revolves around a pool table and videogames and the jukebox plays Southern-fried tunes à la nearby Hogs & Heifers. This isn’t exactly a dive, but it’s swimming in that same murky pool.
I went there last Friday and left my tote bag with some Christmas presents in it. When I called on Sunday, I spoke with a girl named Lisa who had me confirm what was in my bag. She said it was there and that I could pick it up during the week after 5pm. Well, now it has "disappeared" and no one knows what I am talking and about and they "dont know what to tell me." Now, had I called Sunday and my bag was gone, no big deal. But it was confirmed by an employee that it was there so clearly it was stolen. Who wants to eat and drink in the presence of theives and liars??
