Hi-Fi: Brownies is gone. Get over it. The former rock club is quite different now, and change doesn't always have to be bad. Hi-Fi packs them in on weekends, but not to see cutting-edge bands...rather to hear them on their interactive jukebox. A twenty-something crowd fills the spot, and the unisex bathrooms make picking up the cutie in line behind you a cinch (as is the popular pool table). Avenue A has certainly changed, but do you want to go into a bar and see aging (failed) musicians every time? Sounds more like an opening to a joke. Hi-Fi isn't anything to laugh at, especially when getting a well-poured cocktail is part of their charm. |
