Henry St. Ale House: On a nondescript strip of Henry Street, this cozy, candlelit bar and restaurant beckons. With classic décor like tin walls and ceilings, antique wrought-iron ceiling fans, and a warm color scheme dominated by shiny reds and dark woods, this ale house looks much nicer than your average neighborhood pub—and offers better beer and food—though you’ll still find ketchup bottles dotting the bar and every little table and booth. Thankfully, the two unobtrusive TVs don’t meddle with the surprisingly good music that usually accompanies the night. Big chalkboards shout out the day’s specials and, more importantly, the fantastic beer selection, which with several good microbrews on tap, keeps the spirit of the bar’s former occupant, the Park Slope Brewing Company, alive, and undoubtedly keeps the clientele coming back. |
