Hecho en Dumbo: Don’t expect to find a sign that says “Hecho en Dumbo,” or even a small 111 (the address number) hiding above the entrance. Sadly, it’s one of those places, but here's a clue: It’s the one with the “Café Bar” sign, the floor-to-ceiling red curtains, and mood lamps that look like they’re straight out of IKEA. But this isn’t just another European import. For one, the service is fast, and the fresh (and tasty), made-to-order guac and chips are authentic Mexican cuisine. Plus, the bar offers plenty of powerful Mexico City cocktails and beer. One patron standing in line for the bathroom said, “the drinks really hit you,” but fortunately your wallet won’t be hit too hard. Why the bathroom wait? Here’s another clue: A bar that provides both a private unisex bathroom and free NYC condoms next to the toilet is just asking for a long line, but then again that’s also expecting a lot from the guys. |
