Hearth: If The Restaurant was the best example of how not to run a restaurant (or better yet, who not to hire), then this downtown eatery is the how-to guide for pan-roasted entrepreneurial success. Founded by two NYC restaurant talents (Marco Canora and Paul Grieco, both formerly of Gramercy Tavern), Hearth serves up a friendly, upscale dining experience. The restaurant’s commitment to excellence and hospitality is evident in items from their seasonal menus (entrées include braised veal breast), the careful selections on the extensive wine list, and attentive service from a pleasant and professional wait staff (as opposed to those who provoked Rocco’s temper tantrums). Most come to Hearth for dinner, but the bar serves specialty literature-inspired cocktails as well. |
