Hard Rock Cafe: There is no reason for anyone who lives in New York to hit this granddaddy of theme restaurants unless you’re there to see a show or it’s your company’s holiday party and you’re angling for a big bonus. This outpost of Gotham’s Hard Rock is just like every other one that exists: Rock ’n’ roll relics cover the walls and a souvenir shop bigger than your apartment sells t-shirts and shot glasses to tourists still dizzy from the double-decker ride uptown. The kitchen churns out all the standards: nachos, burgers, Buffalo wings, and the like. Of course, drinks are separated by musical theme: The hip-hop list includes the Hypnotiq Tea, and the Rockarita is in the heavy-metal category. There is an outdoor space above the marquee that would make hanging out in Times Square cool, but it’s reserved for private parties that you probably won’t get invited to. |
