Harbour Lights: Yet another South Street Seaport bar/restaurant boasting views of the river and all three lower Manhattan bridges? Not so much. The open-air deck sets this one apart; al fresco dining without the ground level hubbub. There’s somewhat of an Irish theme reflected in the décor, if not the menu or the unobtrusive “adult contemporary” background music. The attentive staff is usually better-dressed than the patrons, who, true to the typical Seaport crowd, are mostly from out of town, which could account for their chattiness. It’s certainly no place to get rip-roaring drunk and dance around with a lampshade on your head, but if you want to strip down and jump into the East River, no one’s going to stop you. Of course, re-entry could be a problem. |
