Guastavino's
Below the Queensboro Bridge, Guastavino’s handily snazzes up the usually disparaging term “Bridge and Tunnel.” The architecture is flat-out spectacular—it’s the St. Patrick’s Cathedral of New York City restaurants. But unlike the Midtown cathedral, entrance to Guastavino’s is not free; the French/American cuisine is inventive, delicious, and trés, how do you say, expensive. For the rank and file on a budget, it’s best to visit during New York’s Restaurant Week, or stop in mid-week for a drink or two. For those looking to impress a date, this is the place. In the summer, ask to sit at a table outside and ask for a Flirtini—it was created here.

NYE Party SUCKED!

I went with a bunch of friends this year to Guastavino's 2008 NYE Party and it was HORRIBLE!!!! We basically paid to wait on line the whole night. It was about 30+ minutes wait for drinks (4 drink min. per person) at two VERY small and overly CROWDED bars. At least, 40 minutes wait for the ladies room and 30 minutes for the mens room. Plus, there was very little hors d'oeuvre passed around and the whole place reeked of vomit. They also started the countdown three minutes prior to midnight and there was no televised countdown of the Times Square Ball Drop. The description for the general admissions tickets is totally off!! It was a waste of my time and money. I would have gotten more joy out of flushing my money down the toilet than spending on tix to NYE party at Guastavino!!!

Avoid on New Years!

Its a nice looking place and potentially a decent set up, but after doing the New Years Eve party there, I would AVOID THIS PLACE at all costs!

Fair enough, it was a long line to get in, but the bar itself was an even longer wait, with plenty of people shoving their way through, waving cash at the bartenders (which was painfully understaffed).

Lines for the bathroom were insanely long, and thats not even the ladies room! Half an hour for the mens room too?!

Even though it took ages to get a drink, some people must have ordered 10 at a time for themselves, as I saw some of the most drunken idiots ever.

No wonder there were loads of people falling on the wet floor, and plenty of fist fights erupting in and outside the venue.

It was a complete waste of time and money. I know many club nights and big new years parties will have one or two arrogant people to spoil the mood, and usually I'll let that slide, but I think I saw about a hundred arrogant ****'s on that night.

NEVER AGAIN!
