Grassroots Tavern: Despite the prime location, this bar is easily overlooked. Without crazy marketing ploys, it can’t be easy to attract followers on St. Marks Place. The marked restraint from neon sets this tavern apart from its fratty neighbors. Like an old, kinda dingy lover, Grassroots can be counted on for old-fashioned beer, booze, and charm. There’s even a good deal of space in this dive, but don’t bring plastic—this establishment is true to its roots and deals exclusively in cash. |
