Garvey’s:
This low-key Irish pub is nothing to write home about. But if simplicity is what you’re after in a neighborhood where even McDonald’s has a marquee, then this place hits its mark. Located right under the Milford Plaza, it tends to be a favorite for the budget-conscious tourist. This is not as gussied-up as some other spots with Times Square addresses, but there is a pool table and a couple of vintage arcade games. And instead of the generic beer signage, framed posters promoting former shows at the Irish Reparatory Theatre line the red walls. Eighteen beer choices are on tap and a menu lists generic Irish pub grub as well as thin-crust fancy-topped pizzas.
