GalleryBar: The Lower East Side's cut-your-ear-off art scene is growing, and GalleryBar is jumping on with mind-blurring drinks and excessive canvases. This little den of exposed brick and distressed concrete comes fully stocked with two bars, plush couches, and walls covered in Bob Ross wannabe's. If the oils and water-colors don’t inspire your inner renaissance, you can move to the back and take classically uninspired photos inside the vintage photo booth. Or, if you’re feeling extra nocturnal, you can slide to the dark downstairs and hide out amidst the numerous chaises and glowing candles while you take in the way-cooler-than-thou scene. The overall feel of this place is nothing new to the Orchard Street scene, but it is good to know that there’s a bar providing a bit more culture than the “artistic” Polish vodka you love so much. |
