Futura Bistro Moderne:
Unless you walk around with your eyes up to the sky, you may not notice the high-up Futura sign welcoming passersby into the little Italian bistro. Yet what it lacks in outer glitz, the spot makes up for in shabby chic. A long bar with plenty of stools sits in the restaurant’s center, though you may find the “bar” crowd somewhat lacking on a weeknight. On the upside, they’ll let you snag a table for “just drinks.” Cute Brazilian waiters gladly recommend wines to complement a varied European menu…and after a few glasses you may be gladly recommending one of them gives you his number.
Born and raised in Mendoza, I'm very picky about people who claim theycook like Argentines. C'mon, no one cooks like mama. "FUTURA" is the first place i've taken my family and gotten the response "iEso es un bife!", equivalent to "now that's a steak!" The steak is compared to none, service is good and very pleasant... When we went, a major soccer game was playing (River V Boca) it's a great attraction for true futbol fans DISPLAY IN A 120 INCH PROJECTOR! Be sure to try the empanadas, they're just like grandma's (just don't tell her). my advice, go for the Bife de lomo. You won't find it in the U.S. for that price and that superior taste! For drinks, I suggest the "Quilmes", an Argentine beer (I like the dark beer). If beer is not your dig, romance whomever it may be with a bottle of Malbec. It is sweet, sophisticated and "fUTURA" has a great selection! The bar is also well stocked, with ports, italian grappa and amari. Well that's all I'm going to ramble about. This restaurant has become an old favourite, the venue of many dates, birthday parties ,celebrations! As we say in Argentina, "iCon provecho!"
