Freeman's
When Freemans opened in 2004, it was one of those don’t-give-us-attention-even-though-we-love-it places that therefore became all the rage among the LES’s don’t-look-at-us-but-secretly-we-need-it lo-cals. But now…things are still kind of as they were. Down a cute little alleyway awaits this urban game lodge where animal heads grace the walls and downtown bohemia bellies up to the tiny bar for specialty cocktails. There are two dining rooms here, but the small space assures a feeling of camaraderie wherever one sits. The menu follows suit: wild boar, lamb sausage, etc. Though this is a restaurant first—even the bar closes at 11pm—Freemans is a serviceable hangout for drinks, but trying to get one of the 10-12 bar seats is tougher than fly fishing for grizzly bears.
