Like the 21 Club for the 21st century, Frederick’s beckons Gen-Xers and Gen-Yers to their semi-private swank cocktail club. Of the three rooms, one is for members only (the exception being if you rent the room for an event) and two are for the rest of us civilians. Since the exclusive memberships go for a grand, you’ll want to stick to those two rooms. Regardless of your status, it’s all about glamour here. Vibrant colors, modern lines, stylish tunes, and contemporary art suit the youthful social scene where the painfully hip and pretty sip creative martinis ($12-$14) like the Sake Cosmopolitan or the Apricot Mango while lounging on red velvet banquettes or around one of the black lacquer tables. For more eye candy, the fully stocked bar also houses a flat-screen TV tuned to the latest game. Only in New York would happy hour (Tuesday-Friday, 5pm-9pm) constitute $9 cocktails to go with your $35 prix fixe pan-Asian meal. We guess this crowd is used to hemorrhaging money.
