FR.OG
While FR.OG (France Origine) might just be the most cleverly named spot of the year, we’re pretty sure its target audience knows where they were when JFK was shot. FR.OG's concept is the brainchild of Didier Virot (AIX) who crafts cuisine that reflects the French colonies of Vietnam, Lebanon, and Morocco. (Imperialism has never tasted so good.) And like so many of its SoHo peers, FR.OG is all about luxe décor, ie: sequined walls, rounded banquettes, leather chairs, and of course, eclectic martinis like the Ginger Rose (ginger, vodka, lychee, rose essence). But as much as we appreciate a good strong cocktail and an exotic app or two, there’s a palpable ‘blah’ feeling at FR.OG, which may have you gazing out the window contemplating a new found indifference to amphibians. Or maybe we just like tadpoles a bit better.

The cocktails pack a mean punch. Make sure you have your sea legs before you try to leave.
