Five Front: There's one place the stroller pushin' and Outback drivin' yuppies of Park Slope and Brooklyn Heights turn to for some peace, quiet, and good beer: Five Front's bamboo garden in DUMBO. You'd think a bar/restaurant directly under one of the busiest overpasses in the city (this one being the Brooklyn Bridge), would make it hard to relax, however, the owners of Five Front have achieved the impossible. Buried in birch trees and sprinkled lazy chairs and tables, the outdoor garden is one of the best in the city. Smooth jazz, reggae, and soul emanates from the house speakers as the plastic-framed spectacle folks drink Brooklyn Lagers and nosh on the orgasmic burgers. The atmosphere is almost zen-like, perfect for the yoga-bending Brooklyn Brownstone crowd. |
